Genre: Romantic Thriller
A police officer will do anything to catch the serial killer that got away—even if it means playing a deadly game in the icy wilderness.
Sweetwood Falls, Yukon, has seen too much terror for one small town. Corporal Aurora Hunt still blames herself for not catching the Shadow Box Killer before five women lost their lives. The killings stopped two years ago, and her colleagues believe the murderer is dead. But Aurora isn’t convinced.
A chilling discovery on a winter’s morning confirms her fears. The crime scene is all too familiar—a woman’s mutilated body, and beneath it, a box containing a gruesome souvenir. But this time, there’s a special message, daring Aurora to play a game that will lead her into the wilderness to try and save the next victim.
Canadian Watcher Squad survivalist Kordell Greene is part of the past that Aurora has tried to put behind her. He’s also the only person equipped to guide her through this deadly terrain. But somehow, the killer knows all their secrets. Solving cryptic clues as they battle the elements, Aurora and Kordell must confront dark truths they’ve withheld, even from each other. And always, the Shadow Box Killer is one step ahead, drawing them deeper into a twisted game where the slightest mistake may be their last.

Excerpt
Aurora scanned the room, but no cameras were visible. “He obviously had hidden cameras installed. There’s no way he would have known otherwise.” She scooped up her bag and unleashed her weapon, positioning herself in front of the basement door. “I feel like I’m watching a horror movie and want to yell at the television Don’t go into the basement! I don’t like this.”
“Me either, but we have no other choice.” He whipped out his Glock. “Ready.”
She raised her flashlight and gun in unison, revealing weathered wooden stairs. “Be careful. The steps look a bit worn.”
He tested the first one. “Stay on the outside.”
They slowly descended into the mildewy lower level.
Torchlike wall sconces snapped on, illuminating the hallway with an eerie glow. A jutted-out shelf holding a retro gramophone flicked on, and a creepy scratching sounded before a robotic voice said, “Hello. Welcome to the second part of your game, Rory and Kord. Do you like my special gramophone? I crafted it myself. You need to solve my riddle in order to find Candace.Time’s a-wastin’. Note, the mansion doors will unlock at dawn when the game is over—one way or another.” Suspenseful music played over the gramophone. “Are you ready?”
“Do we have a choice?” Kordell said.
“Not if you want to win this round and save the girl.”
My Thoughts
Coordinates of Death is the second book of the "Arctic Protectors" series, but seems to work well as a stand alone. While I have come to enjoy some Christian suspense, I'll admit that this one was almost too much for me! LOL It would make a good script for a TV show my daughter and I used to watch.
Canadian Corporal Aurora Hunt and Kordell Greene of the Canadian Watcher Squad have to race to follow gruesome clues to save the next victim of a serial killer, while trying not to be sucked into the pain and horror of their past experiences.
I like Aurora's strong faith, in spite of her horrific past. If only Kordell would allow his faith to rekindle and grow, then some of his feelings of guilt could go away. Is the friendship they had during their childhood able to be sparked again?
If you enjoy edge-of-your-seat thrilling suspense, with a faith foundation, set in the frigid Yukon, grab a copy, pronto.
I received a complimentary copy. These opinions are my own.
