Yolan, Jane
Jane Yolen is a novelist, poet, fantasist, journalist, songwriter, storyteller, folklorist, and children’s book author who has written more than three hundred books. Her accolades include the Caldecott Medal, two Nebula Awards, the World Fantasy Award, three Mythopoeic Awards, the Kerlan Award, two Christopher Awards, and six honorary doctorate degrees from colleges and universities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Born and raised in New York City, the mother of three and the grandmother of six, Yolen lives in Massachusetts and St. Andrews, Scotland.
We enjoyed some of her books during our homeschooling years, such as Owl Moon and All Those Secrets of the World. I recently picked up Switching on the Moon for my grandsons, and would like to also pick up Bird Watch.
Have you read any of Yolen's books? If so, please share in the comments below.
Another author I'd like to mention, even though I haven't read her book, is Malala Yousafzai, author of I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban. Have you read it? Should I add it to my TBR list?
