“First name, last name, phone number. Good. Where she
lives. Favorite colors are blue, purple, and red. But since this
is a Winter Wonderland theme, she’s going with blue, silver,
and white hues. The best man and groomsmen will be in dark
blue tuxes and white shirts.” She tapped the folder. This is
going to be a beautiful wedding.
After Mandie made the call and confirmed the notes
with Holly, she picked up a call from Hudson.
“Hey, babe. What day are we tasting cake and choosing
songs?”
Mandie giggled. “We are choosing songs tomorrow with
Leena. And we’re tasting cake . . . hang on.” She checked the
calendar on her cell phone. “Next Wednesday at one.”
“I still wish you’d bake our cake. You’re the best cakemaker
in the world.”
“That’s sweet, honey. But no bride wants to make her
own wedding cake.”
“I get it.” Hudson chuckled. “I’m going to call Mr. Randall
and book my flight.”
Book my flight. Mandie’s muscles tightened. It sounded
far away. She made herself sound upbeat. “Thanks for letting
me know.”
“Love you.”
“Love you more.”
She smiled when Hudson said, “Love you most.”
She ended the call. She’d have to dig deep and trust
that he would not move to Seattle and abandon her. Stupid
triggers. They’d had many conversations about his job, but
she didn’t realize he’d been so miserable. Poor guy. She’d have
to do something extra special for him. Like cook him a nice
dinner or bake his favorite cake.
Excerpt 2
The realization of having a mere seventeen days to plan
one wedding and tie up loose ends with hers—without
the much-needed help of her fiancé or anyone else—weighed
heavy on Mandie’s shoulders. Her notes were a sopping mess.
Awesome.
She chewed on her bottom lip. Maybe they should
reschedule their wedding for February. Or spring. Or
summer. June is nice. She sank to the floor, wishing she had a
chair, wincing at the thought of moving her wedding.
Christmas music playing from her cell phone didn’t help
relieve her frustration over her drenched notes. Hudson
eased down beside her with a piece of the chocolate cake
Mandie had made him that morning. “How can I help you?”
He took a bite.
“Besides staying here and not flying to Seattle?”
My Thoughts
Carmen Peone is a new-to-me author. I found Christmas Wishes to be a sweet, engaging novella, perfect for Christmas time. Even though it is part of the Seven Tine Romance series, it seems to work fairly well as a stand alone.
I liked how both Mandie and Hudson had their own strong opinions on where they should live after their wedding, yet they both were willing to yield to whatever God's will was for them. Also, when problems arise between the two of them, they are fairly quick to resolve them.
If you enjoy a sweet Christmas time romance, with a large dose of Christian faith, add this to your holiday reading TBR list.
